At Childwall CE Primary School we believe that all children should be encouraged to fully experience ‘Life in all its fullness’ John 10:10 and therefore we place a great emphasis on offering a range of extra-curricular activities and personal development skills. We are a school that tries to offer as many opportunities as we can to our pupils, ensuring that a broad, balanced and enriched curriculum is delivered to the best of our abilities and to the highest standards.
Pupils are able to access a full and enriched extra-curricular programme, including year-round sports clubs and fixtures, drama club productions, music lessons and a range of before school, after school and lunchtime clubs.
Lessons are brought to life through a wide range of trips to places of cultural and historical interest. We live in a city that is full of history and culture and we try to utilise the local area as much as possible when planning extra-curricular opportunities.
Furthermore, we have a good partnership link with Hope University and plan many learning experiences throughout the year to enhance the curriculum whilst developing future teachers.
At Childwall we offer three residentials each year; Year 2 have a 1 night residential at Barnstondale in the Wirral; Year 4 attend a 2-night PGL Pioneers Programme residential at Winmarleigh Hall and our Year 6 pupils attend a 2-night residential at PGL Boreatton Park.
Each residential offers a wide range of activities that contribute to both physical and environmental education and development. Our residentials allow the children to develop resilience through problem-solving, teambuilding and skills-focused learning.
Furthermore, through Pupil Premium funding we plan targeted extra-curricular activities to help children build resilience, develop life skills for the future and develop confidence.
We feel that our extra-curricular offer enables all of our children to grow and ensuring that we live our mission from Luke 2:40 ‘And the child grew…’
