Times Tables Rock Stars
Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) is an engaging online programme that helps children learn and quickly recall multiplication and division facts. Secure times-table facts. Secure times knowledge supports many areas of mathematics, including fractions, division, problem-solving and written calculations.
Supporting your child at home
Children can access TTRS using the username and password provided by school. Short, regular practice is most effective. We recommend approximately 5–10 minutes at a time, several times each week.
Parents and carers can help by:
- encouraging regular practice without putting children under pressure;
- helping children focus on accuracy before speed;
- praising effort, improvement and perseverance;
- asking related division questions, such as, “If 6 × 4 = 24, what is 24 ÷ 6?”;
- checking the My Stats section and heatmap to celebrate progress and identify facts that need more practice; and
- contacting the class teacher if login details are lost or their child is finding the work difficult.

National curriculum expectations
| Year group | Expected learning |
| Reception | Develop an understanding of equal groups, patterns and doubles through practical activities. |
| Year 1 | Count in multiples of 2, 5 and 10 and begin to solve simple multiplication and division problems. |
| Year 2 | Recall and use the 2, 5 and 10 times tables, including related division facts. |
| Year 3 | Recall and use the 3, 4 and 8 times tables, while continuing to practise previously learned tables. |
| Year 4 | Recall multiplication and division facts for all times tables up to 12 × 12. |
| Years 5 and 6 | Maintain fluent recall and apply times-table knowledge to fractions, percentages, division, factors, multiples and more complex problems. |
These expectations come from the National Curriculum for Mathematics. Schools may adjust the order in which facts are introduced to meet children’s needs and support their curriculum.
In June, children in Year 4 complete the statutory Multiplication Tables Check, consisting of 25 on-screen questions. Its purpose is to identify whether children can fluently recall their tables up to 12 × 12 and whether they need any additional support.
